Racking up rave reviews one right after another, Radha’s retinol balm actively reduces signs of aging. Formulated to be 71% organic, and including aloe, green tea, jojoba oil, and shea butter together in one pot, it’s made naturally to provide natural results and hydrate skin back to health.
There are several ingredients, apart from retinol, in this natural anti aging serum that promise to boost your skin’s beauty. Aloe vera helps to retain moisture and works as a healing agent for sun and wind damaged skin.
Pitera is the ingredient that has made SK-II the global phenomenon it is today. And while we’d assume it’s pretty highly concentrated in its cult-favorite essence, this eye cream has EIGHT times more of the ingredient than any product before it. The result? A rich, deeply hydrating treatment cream that nourishes the area and provides vitamins and nutrients to help brighten, firm, and prevent damage from pollution.
When it comes to battling dark circles, our top pick is Vichy Idealia Eyes. Its ingredient list boasts an effective combo: caffeine to constrict blood vessels, and antioxidants and peptides to help combat the breakdown of collagen. It also includes sunscreen, niacinamide, and mica, which all work to help brighten the skin to make dark circles less noticeable. The cream soaks in quickly and is lightweight enough to layer over your daily makeup and the silicone applicator was one of the favorites we tested — gently massaging in the product without pulling or tugging.
These effects can be more dramatic when it comes to prescription retinoids. The peeling, redness and sensitivity usually lasts a few weeks, so make sure you baby your skin while it adjusts. Keep in mind that this won’t last forever, and that the results will make it all worthwhile!
I have been using Kiehls Midnight recovery eye cream for about a year and have not seen any significant results. I began using the dr. Brandt retinol eye cream and within a week I noticed a huge difference. I have really dark circles and although they are not completely gone, they are less apparent. The fine lines around my eyes have also diminished. I am absolutely in love with this product and a little goes a long way.
I love the DDF Amplifying Elixir. It cost $70 and you can buy it from most upmarket department stores. This product contains Niacinamide which is proven to even out skin tone and fade spots. The only problem I have with DDF is they keep discontinuing and replacing products so if you are using a cleanser, serum or cream you love it might disappear and be replaced by something that just doesn’t work for you.

Those with sensitive skin are still able to use retinols, however. Many new products have soothing, time-released formulas that minimize the negative effects of retinol without compromising efficacy. Dermatologist Dr. Dendy Engelman recommends that those with sensitive or compromised skin start with a lower dose or apply retinol less frequently to build up a tolerance. And remember, sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen.
Put Sunday on repeat with this minute-to-minute clarifying treatment that makes dark spots brighter and loose skin tighter. Formulated with exfoliating lactic acid, licorice to counteract hyperpigmentation, and lemongrass to improve radiance, regular use guarantees a plump, more youthful-looking complexion you’ll dare to show off, not shy away from.
Recommended for more mature skins (35+) this retinol is formulated with hyaluronic and lactic acids to keep skin hydrated, brightened and smoothed. Bonus points for its skin repairing ceramide blend that will keep you protected whilst fighting those pesky fine lines. Worth the £10 Beauty Pie membership alone.

Fast forward to a month ago, I started to use LilyAna’s Retinol Cream. I started using it twice a day, as recommended, but found it made the tip of my nose peel and facial skin became sensitive. I’m using the cream once a day, under my makeup, which has been the best amount for me. I’ve seen a tremendous change- deep lines are significantly lightened, almost erased. My old acne scars from the early 20’s are even smoothing out. I now have the confidence to go makeup free out in broad daylight! That is huuuuge for me.
I had low expectations about Roc Retinol Correxion cream due to the low cost of this item but it seems to work and now I use the day and night cream everyday but I need to use my own spf sunscreen as I have very sensitive skin. Some products that work exactly the same way to roc cost double.
Despite the positive effects of retinol cream, people concerned with achieving healthy skin should take steps to nourish it through internal methods as well. For example, eating a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables helps the skin receive valuable nutrients. Strive to get at least eight hours of sleep each night in order to feel rested. Drink plenty of water to eliminate toxins from the body and contribute to healthy skin. By taking the time to effectively care for the skin both internally and externally, a person can enjoy healthy, smooth skin that will last for years to come.
“Retinol has the power to transform your skin—it firms, smooths, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Choose a product that combines traditional retinol with natural bioretinols for reduced sensitivity.”—Kate Somerville, Brand Founder
Our tester, who has a “normal” complexion with zero sensitivity issues (lucky her), tested the retinols for two weeks per brand and applied them every third night to dry, clean skin, without using any other moisturizers or products (we definitely wouldn’t recommend this method to anyone who has ever had dry or sensitive skin, though; instead, massage in a hydrating moisturizer 20 minutes after you apply your retinol to stave off irritation and flakes).
Retinol creams also help to stimulate skin cell regeneration. This increased cell turnover helps to improve the appearance of skin including fading dark spots and reducing hyperpigmentation. In this same way, retinol creams are great for healing scars, sun spots, and even more stubborn wrinkles and skin imperfections.

This retinol serum has a lot of ingredients that are good for your skin’s health and beauty. One ingredient that we didn’t find in the other retinol serums list of ingredients presented in this review is the horsetail plant extract which increases circulation when applied to the skin.

She continues, “Retinoids can only be damaging to skin if you have a super-sensitive underlying skin condition like eczema or rosacea and can flare and enhance inflammation. Still, patients with sensitive conditions like rosacea may still be able to use a retinoid, but they need to gradually introduce it into their skincare regimen, perhaps only one time weekly, and prep their skin with a topical moisturizer before applying the retinoid. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream ($13) is a great option, which is also oil-free, and gentler options containing retinol can be found for use around the delicate eye area, such as Olay Age Defying Anti‑Wrinkle Eye Cream ($13).”
Stay out of the sun. If you must be outdoors, limit your hours, especially between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wear sunscreen, preferably with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or higher, and protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and a large-brimmed hat.

Dr. Brandt’s Glow by Dr. Brandt Revitalizing Retinol Eye Cream ($55) takes the prize for ideal packaging — it comes in an airtight pump. The pump was great for portion control, too. One full pump is the perfect amount for both eyes. In comparison with tip applicators, we often found ourselves with too much or not enough product. Or, like Vi Derm Revitalizing Eye Cream, the tip broke off in the cap with no way of keeping the cap on.
When looking at skincare products, it’s important to remember that “retinoid” is an umbrella term and doesn’t specify the type of retinoid compound in the formula. The only type of retinoid that your skin is able to process immediately is retinoic acid. All other forms of retinoids have to be converted by skin enzymes into retinoic acid before the skin is able to use it.
Bright skin, great for under makeup use: Women are very happy with the fact that using this serum under their makeup leads to no afternoon sliding or melting off. It also makes their complexion look brighter.
like you have cold sores. Not pretty! The first few weeks, you will experience some burning and redness, tightening and peeling. It may be a little uncomfortable and annoying with the peeling but after you get through those few hurdles, it’s all worth it.
Mature collagen in skin undergoes continuous turnover, which is required for optimal connective tissue function. The unique molecular structure of collagen renders it largely resistant to nonspecific proteolytic attack. The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of enzymes responsible for degradation of collagen. The MMPs are members of a large subfamily of proteinases with certain common structural features. The human family of MMPs is composed of at least 16 members who can be classified into 4 different subfamilies: 1) collagenases, 2) gelatinases, 3) stromelysins, and 4) membrane MMPs. The first three can cleave native, undenatured interstitial helical collagens found in the skin within the triple-helical domain. The cleavage site is specific in type I collagen generating three-quarter and one-quarter length fragments. Following this initial unequal split by collagenase, the resultant denatured collagen called gelatin is further degraded by gelatinases and stromelysins (Kang, Fisher, et al 2001).

This is my third time using this product. I must say it is very effective and proves worthy of its claims. This brand has been out for a very long time and from my experience with this product I can see why!
Excess vitamin A has also been suspected to be a contributor to osteoporosis. This seems to happen at much lower doses than those required to induce acute intoxication. Only preformed vitamin A can cause these problems, because the conversion of carotenoids into vitamin A is downregulated when physiological requirements are met. An excessive uptake of carotenoids can, however, cause carotenosis.
Although you can use any retinol face cream under your eyes, a formula especially made for this delicate area helps prevent sensitivities or reactions. There are retinol eye creams made for use during the day or at night, sensitive skin versions that contain soothing emollients, and time-release formulas that slowly release retinol to help prevent inflammation or redness. Over-the-counter face creams may contain up to 2 percent retinol, the highest percentage permitted by the FDA, although most retinol eye creams contain much less, usually around .5 percent. Look for retinol creams with complementary active ingredients such as caffeine, which constricts blood vessels, reducing puffiness and the appearance of dark circles; hyaluronic acid, which helps moisturize and plump skin, reducing the look of lines and dark circles; and vitamin C, a popular antioxidant that can firm and brighten skin.
It is still a little early to report on results, however the product arrived quickly, goes on well without any stinging or odor, and I think I may see some improvement of my skin. I have only been using it for about 3 weeks. I still have plenty left so I am thinking it may last a few months. Great price for a product lasting this long. I will report back after using it longer.
