Vitamin A deficiency is common in developing countries but rarely seen in developed countries. Approximately 250,000 to 500,000 malnourished children in the developing world go blind each year from a deficiency of vitamin A. Night blindness is one of the first signs of vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A deficiency contributes to blindness by making the cornea very dry and damaging the retina and cornea.
Retinol products can help visibly diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles, increase the appearance of firmness, improve uneven skin tone, smooth and refine the surface of skin, and help mitigate the effects of environmental stressors.
Three approaches may be used when populations have low vitamin A levels :(A) through dietary modification involving the adjustment of menu choices of affected persons from available food sources to optimize vitamin A content, (B) enriching commonly eaten and affordable foods with vitamin A, a process called fortification. It involves addition of synthetic vitamin A to staple foods like margarine, bread, flours, cereals and other infant formulae during processing and (C) giving high-doses of vitamin A to the targeted deficient population, a method known as supplementation.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Afirm. It comes in 3 strengths 1x,2x and 3x. You get a nice gentle peel. If not experienced should start with low strength and work your way up. I also use Roc cleansing disk and Roc moisturizer w/SPF. Just thought it odd no one mentioned it since its a fairly popular brand in retinol community.
This serum is a classic for good reason. Not only does it work, er, rapidly (with results in as little as a week), it also absorbs in a flash, which means no waiting around before applying moisturizer. Bonus points for its healthy dose of super-hydrating hyaluronic acid.
Perhaps the most luxurious of the bunch, this ultra-moisturizing fluid keeps your skin supple and hydrated through the night and into the next day. It’s silky, it’s fast-absorbing, and it’ll make you look younger to boot.
I originally bought the sample size of of the 10% serum and didn’t see a whole lot of difference. Next I purchased a full size of the 30% which is fantastic. Unless you have really sensitive skin that takes a long time to acclimate, I would suggest doing the same. The full size lasts a LONG time and the results with the 30% are much better. ***Platinum comment*** Many people find that the .30% will cause their skin to be very sensitive (especially if you are using other strong products at the same time). It is true that the .10% does not cause irritation. Please be cautious though and start off with a sample size of the .30% to be sure you are not going to be bothered. *Results vary depending on individual needs and product usage. Please see us for personal recommendations.
In the evening, apply a pea-sized amount of this retinol night cream to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Allow for absorption before applying other skincare products. Limit initial use to once or twice a week, gradually increasing frequency as tolerated.
Yes this is a good eye cream. it says on the box but it can tend to burn the eye area but that just means that the ingredients are working. it did leave my eye are red and sometimes with a burn sensation
Mature collagen in skin undergoes continuous turnover, which is required for optimal connective tissue function. The unique molecular structure of collagen renders it largely resistant to nonspecific proteolytic attack. The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a group of enzymes responsible for degradation of collagen. The MMPs are members of a large subfamily of proteinases with certain common structural features. The human family of MMPs is composed of at least 16 members who can be classified into 4 different subfamilies: 1) collagenases, 2) gelatinases, 3) stromelysins, and 4) membrane MMPs. The first three can cleave native, undenatured interstitial helical collagens found in the skin within the triple-helical domain. The cleavage site is specific in type I collagen generating three-quarter and one-quarter length fragments. Following this initial unequal split by collagenase, the resultant denatured collagen called gelatin is further degraded by gelatinases and stromelysins (Kang, Fisher, et al 2001).
Hi Emilie! Rosehip oil alone is not a treatment for clogged pores, though you could benefit from using products that contain rosehip in addition to other ingredients like white willow bark. Our Facial Oil for Oily Skin sounds like it’d be perfect for you. 🙂
If you’re new to the retinol world, this is the perfect starter serum. Formulated for sensitive skin, the gentle product is packed with vitamin C and E, aloe, and colloidal oatmeal that alleviate the irritation and redness often associated with retinol products.
Retinol is a form of vitamin A. SkinCeuticals offers two highly concentrated pure retinol face cream formulations to help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, blemishes, and skin discoloration. These targeted formulations are designed with enhanced stabilization and delivery technologies to ensure maximum efficacy while minimizing irritation.
“There is not a single class of ingredient that can rival the track record that retinoids have for proven scientific results,” says Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, Ph.D., a New York City–based dermatologist. Other experts are equally enthusiastic. Susan Weinkle, a dermatologist in Bradenton, Florida, calls retinoids skin care’s heavy lifters. “I tell patients that regardless of how much time or money they have, sunscreen and a retinoid are the most important anti-agers to use,” she says. “This combo covers all your dermal needs: UV protection; smoother, firmer skin; a more even tone; fewer breakouts; and tighter pores.”
We’re not going to lie; this night treatment boasts a bananas price tag. But if you have the budget, you’ll be happy to know that the patented retinol, whipped up by the namesake surgeon, is the most gentle you’ll find anywhere and the jar is like a time machine for your skin, taking you back to a time in your life before lines, hyper-pigmentation, and dullness.
Murad has perfected the science of retinol with this breakthrough serum, powered by retinol tri-active technology—a fast-acting retinoid, a time-released retinol, and a retinol booster. This potent, gentle formula minimizes the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles, firms, evens skin tone, and boosts luminosity.
Vitamin A can be found in Man1 Man Oil, which is a really awesome penis health creme. It contains other vitamins as well, which improve not only skin condition, but function and hygiene too. All guys should be using it daily.
The Bellafab Skincare Retinol Serum not only contains a high percentage of Retinol, but also hyaluronic acid another effective ingredient for your skin. The company suggests that their product is suitable for all types of skin, including sensitive. Some of the features of Bellafab serum are:

Speaking from experience, though, that doesn’t mean they can’t take your face off — especially if you’re sensitive. Which is why with any retinoid you have to practice restraint, applying a pea-size drop only one or two nights a week until skin acclimates, and buffering that dose with a squirt of anti-inflammatory serum or lotion (think niacinamide, polyphenols, lipids, ceramides). These are doctors’ orders — well-established ones — that I’ve long practiced and preached.
Since it was unfortunately impossible to find the full list of this product’s ingredients even on the company’s official site, I will give you here just a partial list of ingredients which include: vitamins A and E, hyaluronic acid, organic green tea, jojoba oil and aloe vera.
